Fundraising is a lot of work, and you can put a lot of time into an initiative that is not reflected in funds raised. How do you get the best bang for your buck?
I’ve written before about the secret to winning a campaign – identify your supporters, and make sure they support you when it counts. Fundraising works the same way! But instead of getting their votes, you are getting engagement and donations. You won’t get it unless you ask, so you need to ask!
Here’s how that works:
- Organize all of your contacts (supporters, donors, volunteers, board members, contractors, etc) into one place – and add every new contact to that list.
- Make sure you reach out to every single one of those people (unless they ask you not to!), at least once a year but ideally three, and ask them to make a donation.
I know how to do this, and it’s a lot easier than you think.
