Artificial intelligence depends on the questions

Had an interesting experience with ChatGPT the other day. I was helping a client put together a business plan, so I put in the query :

“Help me write a business plan for a business that provides XXX service to YYY people with a specialty in ZZZ.”

I got a really interesting and useful result, a lot of it was not relevant but there was plenty I could use to put together an outline.

Then I put in “what sections should a business plan outline have” and guess what? I got a result that was interesting, and useful, and also completely different from the sections my first query produced.

Artificial intelligence is not the same as human intelligence – it lacks judgment and experience. No matter how good the AI, humans will always be required to answer these two questions:

  • What do you ask the AI?
  • Are the results any good?

When we’re thinking about how to use AI in our business, this is where the focus should be because this is where we can add the most value. Anyone can ask chatGPT to write a blog post about a subject, but you can use your judgment and experience to (a) ask it to write a really interesting one and (b) make sure it’s a really good one.
