Here’s the secret: you use tables.
Let’s say you want your image to the right of your text. So you make a table with one row and three columns. Put your image in the middle column, and adjust the alignment by dragging column borders back and forth with the cursor.
Now you just have to move the text around to fit (keyboard commands are very helpful for this), knowing that the images will stay where you put them.
